HC judge’s transfer: advocates stop working for an hour, boycott court Wednesday

Advocates decided to boycott the lawsuit in the High Court on Wednesday, protesting against four judges serving in Bangalore moving to other states. The Bengaluru Advocate Association also called on Dawad and his colleagues in Karlborough to unite.

On Tuesday, members of the bar association, including some veterans, held a protest outside the Bangalore High Court, halted about an hour of work.

The protests were in response to the proposals of the Supreme Court University by four judges.
The SC Academy recommended the transfer of Judges Krishna S Dixit, K Natarajan, Sanjay Gowda and Hemanth Chadangoudar on April 21, which caused disapproval of the Legal Brotherhood. The college recommends the transfer of Dixit Justice Ministry to the Odisha High Court, where Justice Natararajan is sent to Kerala HC, and Justice Hemant Chandangoudar to Madras HC and Gowda Justice, “inject inclusion and diversity at the level of the High Court and strengthen the quality of the justice.”

The Advocate Association of Bangalore and Dhawad both wrote to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to object to the move.
