The Nagpur bench at the Mumbai High Court on Thursday (17 April 2025) sent a notice to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a poll petition challenging his 2024 victory from the seat of the assembly in the southwest of Nagpur.
The poll petition was filed in January by Prafulla Vinodrao Gudadhe of Congress, who lost to Mr. Fadnavis by 39,710 votes.
In the request, Mr. Goodard claimed procedural errors and corrupt practices and sought the High Court to declare Mr. Fadnavis’ victory “invalid and invalid”.
Justice Pravin Patil was heard in his meeting room on Thursday (17 April 2025) and issued a notice to the defendant (Fadnavis).
“Judge Pravin Patil sent a subpoena to CM Fadnavis on May 8,” Gudadhe’s attorney Pavan Dahat told PTI.
On the next date, the Chief Minister’s legal representative will have to appear in court and respond to the petition.
Gudadhe’s lawyers Dahat and AB Moon claimed that some mandatory rules were not followed during the polls held last November.
Mahayuti swept the parliamentary polls, winning 230 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra Parliament before Fadnavis became CM.
Meanwhile, the High Court also issued a subpoena (Notice) to BJP MLA Mohan Mate from Nagpur West and Kirtikumar Bhangdia from Chimur Seat in Chandrapur region.
