Health insurance plans for underweight babies are quick: Minister

The state government will soon implement a health insurance plan to reduce newborns, health and family welfare ministers. Subramanian said on Sunday.
Mr Subramanian said during an event at Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital (TMCH) that during the 9.5 million annual delivery in the state said about 50,000 babies were born underweight. The proposed plan is intended to ensure medical monitoring and care for such infants from birth.
The announcement was presented at the opening ceremony of 16 new medical buildings built, with a cost of Rs 11.82 crore and a foundation laying ceremony for 13 other 13 buildings worth Rs 745 crore. The event was hosted by Thanjavur regional collector B. Priyanka Pankajam.
Mr Subramanian said that efforts to strengthen early disease testing were underlined, saying that the systemic diagnostic centre for TMCH has been upgraded to Rs 5 crore. Private hospitals charge Rs 17,000 to 18,000, while government hospitals now offer Rs 1,000 to 4,000.
The minister cited an increase in trust in public health care, saying that patients in government hospitals doubled their pace. To further improve the service, TMCH has opened a paid treatment ward with 28 rooms, which charges Rs 1,000 per day, while private hospitals charge Rs 8,000 to Rs 9,000.
He announced that a dedicated ward for transgender patients was opened at TMCH. The hospital has added 80 buildings worth Rs 65.8 crore in the past four years and will be unveiled by the chief minister during the visit next month.
Higher Education Minister Govi ​​Chezhiaan, MPs, MLAs and local officials were present.
