Kunal Kamra continues not to appear as police issued a third subpoena to stand up in derogatory remarks in Maharashtra

Kunal Kamra (36) was asked to appear in front of officials from the Karl Police Station in the suburbs of Mumbai and made his first flight registration last month, they said.
Officials said police issued a third subpoena to stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra on Tuesday and asked him to appear in court in front of them on April 5, allegedly making derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a show in Mumbai. They said Kamra (36) was asked to appear in front of officials from the Karl Police Station in the suburbs of Mumbai and was registered last month for his first pilots.
The 36-year-old comedian was summoned twice by police earlier, but he did not show up in front of them and joined the investigation. The case stems from Kamra’s harsh remarks on Shinde, the head of Shiv Sena, during a show organized by a studio in the metropolitan area.
Shiv Sena’s workers angered the studio’s workers late last month. In various parts of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police have filed cases against Kamra against defamation and public mischief.
The case comes after the comedian released a video last month, singing a parody song that targeted Shinde as “Traitor” Shinde without naming him, but ostensibly refers to his 2022 rebellion against then-host Uddhav Thackeray.
A KHAR police team went to his home in Mahim area of Mumbai on Monday, where his family stayed to check if he would be related to the case, an official said.
Kamra also faces the political zone of other police stations in Mumbai and Thane, adjacent to Thane.
