Uddhav Thackeray, head of the party, said Shiv Sena (UBT) will not allow Hindi mandatory in Maharashtra.

After the state government decided to make Hindi a mandatory third language for students from Level 1 to 5, his comments were based on recommendations from the 2020 New Education Policy (NEP).

Mr Thackeray said about the incident of Bharatiya Kamgar Sena of Shiv Sena (UBT) worker wing that his party has no disgust with Hindi but asked why the students were forced.

There are oppositions in Maharashtra, opposing the making of Hindi a mandatory third language for students in grades 1 to 5 in Marathi and English secondary schools, which runs contrary to the practice of learning the two languages.

Other countries ruled by the opposition also opposed the move, accusing Hindi imposition.
