Police arrested Malayalam film actor Shine Tom Chacko in connection with the drug case on Saturday. His arrest was recorded after a four-hour trial of an alleged attempt to escape from a hotel in Kochi in a narcotics attack.
Police said he was booked under Section 27 (Consumption of any anesthetic drugs or psychotropic substances) and the Anesthetic Drugs and Psychotropic Drugs (NDPS) Act (NDPS) 29 (Teaching Bet and Criminal Conspiracy). Police added that medical examinations and further litigation will be underway soon.
On Saturday, Chacko appeared before Kochi City Police in response to a formal notice from the police. Police sources added that on Wednesday night, after realizing that Dansaf team arrived, Shine escaped from his third-floor room, jumped out of the window, covering the second floor, and escaped the stairs.
