Himanta Biswa Sarma boosts in Panchayat Win with a goal of 104 of 126 rally seats

Guwahati: As NDA swept the Assam Panchayat poll, winning 300 Zilla Parishads and 1,436 Anchalik Panchayats, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa aims to win 104 of the 126 parliamentary seats in the congress poll next year.

In the 27 districts of Assam, the voting was conducted in two phases, the first such election held after the demarcation of the constituency.

“The results of the Panchayat poll in Assam show that there is a clear wave of personal adventurous wave in Assam. We’ve seen a significant increase in seats and voting share compared to 2018. These results are a year ahead of the polls in 2026 and a year after the outstanding performance in the Lok Sabha poll in 2024.”
Of the 397 Zilla Parishads, NDA finished 300, BJP won 274, and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won the rest of the championship.

“Of course of 2,192 Anchalik Panchayats, NDA won 1,436, BJP won 1,265, AGP won 1,265, and AGP won 72 Zilla Parishads won.”

He said 76.27% of the Zilla Parishad seats were in the NDA. Sarma stressed that the party has achieved almost full dominance in multiple regions, including in Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Jorhat, etc. “We won 100% of the ZP seats in multiple regions. Even where we didn’t win all the seats, we got a lot of support,” he said. He said the dominant BJP had 64 strength at the 126-member Assam Conference, while the AGP of ally AGP had nine MLAS, while the United Party Party Party (Uppl) took the seat. “All throughout Assam, Congress cannot win a seat dominated by Hindus. We are doing well in areas that are not traditionally ours.”

“We will hold a Panchayat meeting in Guwahati. We will invite Party Chairman JP NADDA and Trade Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” he said.

“We will compete for 105 seats in next year’s parliamentary poll. Among indigenous Muslims, our voting percentage has risen to 60-70%.”

Amit Shah said on X: “Thanks to the people of Assam for granting the NDA a historic victory in the 2025 Panchayat election. This victory is a recognition of PM @narendramodi ji, a people-centered policy that brings a new era of Assam and peace and prosperity. @dilipsaikia4bjp ji and @bjp4assam karyakartas’ efforts to develop information for Modi Ji.
