The Odisha Congress intensified protests against women’s crimes after a demonstration in the state legislature on Wednesday (March 26, 2025), resulting in 12 political party MLAs.

Despite their suspension, the Congress MLA remained inside the house and later spent the night on the road to Mahatma Gandhi Marg in front of the Legislative Assembly in Odisha. Earlier on Wednesday (March 26, 2025), congressional workers marched into the congress in protest of the suspension. When security personnel intervened, a melee broke out.

As the situation was not conducive to the normal functioning of the rally, speaker Surama Padhi suspended the remaining two MPs, Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Ramesh Jena. Meanwhile, Biju Janata Dal has been asking other backward class candidates to retain 27% of the retention in the fields of work and education.

All day long, congressional workers repeatedly tried to violate parliamentary venues, but security personnel thwarted their efforts.

Congressional MLAS claims they were abused by security personnel during a “peaceful” demonstration in the House on Tuesday night (March 25, 2025). However, the BJP MLA completely dismissed the allegations.

State Law Secretary Prithiviraj Harichandan later said in a press conference: “We challenge Congress MLA to present a piece of evidence that they were treated badly. Instead, it is the workers accompanying Congress to try to damage the rally property because it is the witness of security personnel, and it is the responsibility of responsibility.

“We urged Congress workers to allow the House to run smoothly, but they refused, seemingly acting on the instructions of the Central Congress leader. It was nothing more than a intentional attempt to undermine the budget meeting. There was a plot to stop the development of the Olicians,” Mr. Harichidan said.

He noted: “It is illogical to establish a House Committee to investigate the need for crimes against women. The House Committee is composed of specific events. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi was aware of the crimes against women and took all possible steps to curb women.”

In the evening, during discussions on the Ministry of the Interior Department, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said there was no representative lecture on the BJP on women’s safety. He stressed that the BJP government sets the top priority for women’s safety.
