Hindu minister attacks government response in Sindh province, Pakistan | World News

A Hindu governor in Sindh province, Pakistan, was attacked by protesters who opposed the rally of the new canal plan.

Pakistan Muslim Union Nawaz MP Kheal Das Kohistani, secretary of state for religious affairs, drove through Thatta district in his convoy on Saturday when his convoy was driven by protesters with tomatoes and potatoes, who passed through protesters and potatoes, who shouted slogans against the federal government.

Pakistan Radio reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called Kohirani and assured him that a thorough investigation into the incident was conducted.

Information Minister Atta Tarar seeks detailed information on the incident with reports from Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon and the Federal Home Secretary.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also strongly condemned the act.

Shah said in a statement that no one has the right to take the law into his own hands.

He directed the Deputy Inspector General of Hyderabad Regional Police to immediately arrest the wrongful acts involved in the attack and submit a report.

According to personal details on the National Assembly website, Kohistani is from the Jamshoro district of Sindh, which is the first time he was elected as a member of parliament from PML-N in 2018.

After a full five-year term, he was re-elected in 2024 and received a nod from Gao Cheng to become Secretary of State.
