Former Meta employee claimed he was fired because of Meta’s crackdown on internal leaks.

Fired meta-employees share information

A former Monde employee claimed that he was fired for sharing company updates with his wife, even though the information was made public. Former employee Riley Berton shared his story in a Virus LinkedIn post, calling his firing “incredibly sad, terrible, very, very stupid.” He also claimed that Meta strictly suppressed internal information sharing, resulting in unfair dismissal of several employees.

Berton, who previously worked as an employee software engineer at META, explained that the issue began on January 14, when he shared a part of the Meta internal platform. The position comes from CEO Mark Zuckerberg and talks about the rigorous performance evaluation of employees. But by the time Belton shared information with his wife, it had been leaked to Business Insider and Verge, which published articles about it.

He clarified that he was not the one who leaked the latest news to the media. “The timestamp of the business internal article is about the same time I sent it to my wife, so I can’t be the one who leaked it,” he wrote. “Belton further said that if his wife had just looked at his screen or took a picture of the post, he wouldn’t have been fired.

Is the launch related to the timing of the reward?
Belton’s termination happened a few months after the incident, but the timing raised doubts. He claimed that his last day was before he should receive a performance-based bonus. He noted: “I just got more than expected of my performance.

More employees are affected?
Belton also claims that many meta-employees are facing similar dismissals. He mentioned the hearing case where employees are only used to copy work-related text into their personal notes app and sync it with iCloud. “The person who copied and pasted Apple notes from the internal posts were also fired,” he claimed.

Yuan’s response
So far, Meta has not officially responded to Burton’s claims. However, in a previous statement, Met spokesman Dave Arnold told Verge that the company had strict policies to prevent internal information leakage and take such violations seriously.

Recently, reports show that META has fired about 20 employees allegedly shared confidential company information.

With Meta’s time, Berton is looking for new job opportunities.
