Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Sunday that Cheetah Nirva had five cubs in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

With new trash, the number of cheetahs and bears in Kuno Park located in the state’s Sheopur area will increase to 29. Earlier this month, two cheetahs from the protected forest moved to the Gandhi Sagar Reserve.

Now, the total number of cheetahs, including the bear, is now 31.

“It’s great to have a growing population of cheetahs in Kuno National Park. Recently, 5-year-old Nirva has born five cubs. The arrival of these small cubs is a symbol of success in the Cheetah Project and India’s rich biodiversity.” The Chief Minister said the favorable environment created for wildlife conservation under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is thriving.

Mr Yadav said he was very congratulating the entire team at Kuno National Park, wildlife experts and every hardworking partner who has worked on this historical achievement.

On April 20, South African cheetah Prabhash and Pavak, transferred to Kuno more than two years ago, were released into the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, a sanitation zone that spans Neemuch and Mandsaur regions.

Eight Namibian cheetahs, five women and three men were released until September 17, 2022 to enter Kuno National Park, the first intercontinental translocation of these big cats.

In February 2023, brought to Kuno from South Africa, there were twelve cheetahs. Prior to the birth of these five cubs, the park was 24 cheetahs, including 14 Indian-born cubs. Two of these big cats have now moved to the Gandhi Sagar Shelter.
