Officials said on Friday (April 18, 2025) that the Indian Navy Sailing Boat (INSV) Tarini (INSV) was carrying two female police officers who were returning home after successfully crossing brave rain, high-speed rainfall, high-speed wind and heavy waves.
The ship was marked as her last stop back to Goa during a ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa on Tuesday (15 April 2025).
As part of the ongoing Navika Sagar Parikrama II, the vessel was crewed by LT CDR DILNA K and LT CDR Roopa A, recently underwent a regular stopover in Cape Town.
Indian Navy spokesman said the ship acted as a hub for countless outreach and diplomatic warfare in the port phone in Cape Town.
He said: “Insv Tarini is home.
He added that the crew faced continuous rain, with 40 knots (nearly 75 kilometers) of wind, waving the 5-meter-high.
“In successfully driving the challenging waters of the southern ocean and crossing three main shawls – the cape of good hope, Lee Kok and Horn – the crew now draw a course for India and push a course in determination and adventure,” the spokesman said.
He added: “This extraordinary feat demonstrates the crew’s excellent maritime, resilience and teamwork, setting a new benchmark for India’s navigation and inspiration for a country. The crew’s journey is a testament to India’s growing influence in global maritime exploration and adventure.”
On October 2 last year, Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi announced the ship from Goa on October 2.
