Hyderabad doctor arrested for drug bust of Rs 5 lakh

Hyderabad: Dr. Namrata Chigurupati, a 34-year-old doctor at Omega Hospital, was arrested by Rayadurgam police on suspicion of cocaine procurement.
After prompting, police stopped Namrata during the narcotics handover. She reportedly developed a cocaine dependency and sourced the drug from Mumbai.
Namrata contacted Vansh Dhakkar via WhatsApp, ordered cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh and paid online. The drugs were sent to Hyderabad by Balakrishna, 38-year-old Rampyar Ram, who works in Dakka. Police arrested both during the exchange, seizing 53 grams of cocaine, Rs 10,000 in cash and two cell phones.
Namrata admitted to long-term use of drugs, claiming she spent about Rs 7 million on narcotics.
