Hyderabad Police Chief Anand, Hnew won the Excellence Anti-Drug Award

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Chief CV Anand and Hyderabad Narcotics Law Enforcement have won the first place in the World Police Summit (WPS) 2025 “Anti-Drug Excellence Award” category organized by Dubai Police.

The summit is scheduled to be held from May 13 to 15. This acclaim places Telangana and India on a global map of global anti-drug enforcement.

The Summit is a world premier forum that brings together leading law enforcement professionals from over 138 countries. With the participation of globally renowned institutions such as the FBI, the New York Police Department, LAPD, Metropolitan Police (UK), the Australian Federal Police and the German Police, the summit promoted strategic cooperation, exchange of best practices, and provided influential solutions and insights to address modern political challenges.

This year's award nominations witnessed fierce global competition. The entries received from a wide range of police departments across continents undergo a rigorous two-stage assessment process conducted by a jury of skilled practitioners and Dubai police.

The evaluation parameters included the impact on anti-drug supply, reduction in substance use, community participation, inter-agency collaboration, etc. In the first phase, each judge reviewed and scored the entries, with the top five entries in each category included.

In the second phase, contact shortlisted contestants and invite to participate in virtual meetings to confirm their initiatives and law enforcement measures. During this virtual meeting, Anand gave a comprehensive speech and shed light on law enforcement measures.

Anand became the highest award against the backdrop of fierce competition, marking an extraordinary achievement not only the Telangana police but also the collective anti-drug efforts of the country. At the heart of this recognition is the pioneering work of H-NEW, which has implemented an holistic approach to drug control, combining multi-agency coordination with ED, NCB, DRI, GST, GST, Excise, FRRO, FRRO, drug control management and anti-intelligence.

This is complemented by the University’s Anti-Drug Commission and the ongoing public awareness initiative for community promotion. Strong law enforcement actions have led to the destruction of international and interstate hawker networks, dark cyber interventions, deportation of foreign criminals and a significant decline in drug supply are also one of the measures, which, in addition to the focus of recovery, brings support to victims of substance abuse abuse.

Global recognition is a testament to the firm determination of the state government and Hyderabad City police, along with unwavering commitment and ongoing efforts to eliminate the threat of narcotics. The award is also a strong encouragement of continued excellence, strengthening the dedication of Hyderabad City Police in advancing the state government’s toxic-free Telangana mission.

The WPS team has officially informed Anand that he has selected the first place in the Anti-Drug Award for Excellence and congratulated him. “This is a recognition of your outstanding achievements in improving safety and security, as well as your outstanding achievements in promoting awareness and impactful change in communities and nations,” the WPS team said.

Anand will receive the award at the awards ceremony scheduled for May 15, 2025 at the Dubai Police Club.
