Due to the Good Friday holiday, traffic at the junction under the Tarnaca Overpass was relatively low and mild traffic congested. The intersection has been closed for nearly a decade and is open to commuters on a trial basis on Friday (April 18, 2025) to assess its impact on vehicle movement.

Traffic officials stationed at the Tarnaca junction said actual testing will begin with a normal weekday recovery on Monday. “Traffic volume has been very small since the public holidays. Only after the work week begins, we will have a better understanding of traffic flow and bottlenecks.”

Vehicles from the University of Ottomania are now allowed to go straight to Lapet and turn right towards Habsiguda. Similarly, Lalapet’s traffic can go directly to the university and turn right to Mettuguda.

Officials noted near the turn-in point, especially near Huda Complex and Iriset. “The turnaround is seeing some slowdown, but it is manageable at the moment. We will watch the situation and adjust traffic if necessary,” the traffic police officer added.

As part of the trial, visits will remain in effect until May 2 to assess the feasibility of permanent reopening. Commuters are urged to follow signs, follow instructions, and work with traffic personnel throughout the period. “Based on the levels of congestion observed during the trial, it is possible to close the junction again,” an official said.
