Hygiene, hygiene mistakes found in several restaurants during GHMC Food Safety Wing Raid

hyderabad: Inspections conducted by GHMC’s food safety department showed that all food stores in the city had made multiple hygiene and hygiene mistakes.
GHMC deployed its “Food Safety on Wheels” testing unit at Malakpet to increase public awareness and evaluate food quality in local channels. It said in a statement that targeted inspections were conducted in markets and in commercial kitchens.
In the Monda Market area, officials checked mango merchants and checked for compliance with food handling and storage standards, especially considering the seasonal spikes in fruit sales. At Begum Bazaar, three trading units were conducted for inspection.
In Banjara Hills, a group of food venues have been scrutinized, including the hospital’s cafeteria and restaurants in Mehdipatnam.
At these locations, food safety officials observed several shortcomings in cleanliness, food handling practices and general hygiene. Food samples are collected from houses for laboratory analysis according to the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act).
Officials canceled the food samples for laboratory testing and were preparing to issue notices to several businesses, finding that food safety norms were violated.
