I met someone who went to a government school, failed IIT, failed NEET exam, and later enrolled at MIT, and now he is…

Hritwik Haldar’s journey from a regular student to a MIT scholar shows that despite failure, perseverance, self-learning and understanding concepts will still succeed.
It is often said that if you are passionate about something, no failure can stop you from succeeding. Hritwik Haldar’s inspiring story proves this. He was not the best performing student at the beginning. He started his studies in Bengali High School and didn’t like to study because it felt like a burden. The reason is simple – he doesn’t have proper guidance and just depends on remembering the course.
However, when he was in Level 10, things changed. HRITWIK decided to stop rote learning and instead focus on understanding concepts. This small change had a great impact on his learning method. He began to enjoy learning and make steady progress.
His first major achievement
Hritwik scored an impressive 93.4% on his high school exams and his hard work paid off. But his journey was not without struggles. After graduating from high school, he tried competitive exams such as JEE, JEE Advanced, Neet and Kvpy, but still faced multiple failures. Despite these setbacks, he refused to give up.
It was a major turning point when he had the opportunity to study at Belur’s famous Ramakrishna Mission School (RKM). The environment there encourages self-study and provides an excellent library. It helped him deepen his understanding of the discipline, especially chemistry. Although he failed the KVPY SB exam again, he finished 10th in the SC category and received an admission fee for Iiser Pune.
Arrive at MIT
At Iiser Pune, Hritwik’s academic journey has reached new heights. He developed strong skills in critical thinking, research and concept building. He maintained a 9.1 GPA and worked hard to improve himself. His dedication and consistent efforts ultimately opened the door to the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The story of Hritvik tells us that failure is not the end. With determination, patience and self-study, anyone can overcome difficulties and realize their dreams.
