Gujarat Titans Captain Shubman Gill was condemned by BCCI and fined. This is the reason

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined Rs 1.2 lakh for his team’s slow super result against Delhi Capitals in Saturday’s IPL 2025 match against Narendra Modi Stadium. Under Gill, the GT team also faced free throws during the game, limited to four field players outside the circle, as the field referee determined they were behind in the super rate.

“As it was his team’s first crime this season, Jill was fined INR 1.2 million under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which was related to the minimum rate super attack,” BCCI said in a statement.

The Gujarat Titans won the victory over the Delhi capital through seven wickets, pushing them to the top of the points table.

Currently, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capital and Punjab Kings have scored 10 points in seven matches respectively. However, the Gujarat Titans remained at the highest position due to its superior net running rate, with the Delhi Capital and the Punjab Kings following behind.

Captain Schubman Gill Gill praised his bowlers for posting a strong total in limiting the excellent performance of the Delhi capital.

“One time, the total seemed to be 220-230. We took a step back, thanks to the bowlers. Even in the first game, about 245 chases, we lost 10 runs in the game, only 10 runs. We’ve been chasing well, we’ve been defending the game,” Jill said in his post-game speech.

GT’s pursuit of 204 runs was led by their form of ticket inspector hitter Jos Buttler, who scored an impressive unbeaten 97 run on 54 balls. The British showed his skills with 11 boundaries and 4 highest distances, guiding the GT to victory in only 19.2 matches.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a successful day for Jill, as he was fired for seven times for failure.

“It’s a disappointing way out, but we have a lot of games here and hopefully get my chance,” Jill said.
