Congress recalls Modi’s grandeur after the 26/11 attack

New Delhi: Congress recalled on Wednesday the “outstanding” of Narendra Modi’s media speech as Gujarat’s chief minister in 2008, just two days after the Mumbai attacks began and condemned the BJP’s “terrible” advertisements against the then government. However, the party asserted: “Now let us become cohesive at this most sensitive moment.”
On Tuesday, the BJP stressed that Congressional Post accused the opposition of becoming a “Rashkar-Egypt-Pakistan-state” and launched a “covering incitement” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Congress reiterated its position on Wednesday, recalling what it called “magnificent” in its 2008 media appearances and criticized the BJP’s controversial advertisements against the UPA government at the time.
Congress emphasized unity, saying: “Let us become cohesive at this most sensitive moment.”
Congress Secretary-General Communication Prime Minister Jairam Ramesh said it was a moment showing collective determination to teach a lesson to Pakistan that will never be forgotten.
“On the evening of April 22, the National Assembly of India called for a party-wide meeting. This meeting was held two days later, but was not attended by the Prime Minister. The resolution of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on April 24 was absolutely clear,” he posted on X.
Senior Congress leaders noted that Congress and other opposition parties also asked the parliament to discuss terrorist attacks and demonstrate national unity in a special session.
“But what did the BJP do on November 28, 2008 – two days after the deadly terrorist attacks began in Mumbai? Starting with a violent and unprecedented move, the then-Gujarat chief minister went to Mumbai and addressed the media with grand moves,” Ramesh pointed out. ”
He added that the BJP also released a “terrible” newspaper advertisement on the same day.
“This is history. Let us now become cohesive in this most sensitive time. This country is waiting,” Ramesh urged.
Ramesh also shared a copy of the 2008 BJP ad, which has been read:
“Brutal terrorist attack.
