Ilaiyaraaja sends legal notice to MyThri filmmakers
Ajith and Trisha Krishnan’s upcoming action comedy Bad Bad Ugly played the wrong chord with music composer Ilaiyaraja. The Master has released and issued legal notice to producer Mythri filmmakers to use the changed versions of his songs “Otha Rubayum Tharen,” “Ilamai Idho Idho” and “En Jodi Manja Kuruvi”. ‘
After the movie was successful in box office, he also asked for compensation of 50 million.
Part of the legal notice of Ilaiyaraaja reads: “To the best of our knowledge, his original work/musical work’ from the Tamil film Nattupura Pattu’s Otha Rubayum Tharen’ is changed and commercially exploited in your photographic film, called “Good Ugly Good Ugly”, without the express consent/license from our clients and/or his authorization, nor the royalties paid, he is legally entitled.”
The notice further said it was called an unauthorized use and infringement of its copyright and moral rights.
“He (ilaiyaraja) demanded immediate removal of the song’s version from “What an ugly ugly”, written apology, and a “detailed description of the income obtained from commercial exploitation of the above works”.
