“Imagine if I did anything”: Barack Obama reacts to the Trump administration after tariff shock

Former U.S. President Barack Obama said he has been following President Donald Trump’s new administration and has not spoken publicly for a long time. In an interview on the Hamilton Academy stage, Obama said he believes Trump’s new tariffs are not good for the United States, but said he is more concerned about what he calls the White House rights violations.

“So, this is my first time talking publicly for a while,” Obama said. “I kept watching.” Obama later added: “Imagine if I did anything, the same party that is silent now would tolerate such behavior to me or a whole bunch of my exes.”

“I care more about a federal government that threatens the university if they don’t give up on exercising the right to freedom of speech,” Obama told the college student population.
“The White House can say the idea about law firms, if you represent a political party we don’t like, we will make all our businesses or prohibit you from representing people effectively. This behavior is the opposite of the basic compact we have as Americans.”

Obama’s comments to the law firm mentioned Trump’s announcement of an agreement with a law firm that agreed to provide at least free legal services during his second term. Interestingly, Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff works at the company Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

Kamala Harris also objected to the government after a long absence. “Fear has a contagious way. When a person has fear, it spreads to those around him and spreads. We are undoubtedly witnessing this.”
