IMD issues orange alert for 5 days in Telangana

Hyderabad: IMD issued an orange alert on Wednesday for several areas warning of thunderstorms, lightning strikes and winds touching 50-60 kmph over the next five days. The orange alarm indicates the increased risk of heavy rain, flooding, transportation disruptions and power outages, and advises citizens to stay indoors where possible.
Weather shifts are also being watched for signs of monsoon progress. According to the Metropolitan Center, the southwest monsoon may further enter the Southern Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal in the coming days.
Meanwhile, recent rain spells have ruined the harvest in several areas. In Mulugu, Paddy remains moist in the procurement center, while crops in humans, Siddipet, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Warangared, Sangareddy and Vikarabad are hit by wind and hail.
Early estimates suggest significant damage to rice, corn and mango crops between May 12 and 14. In some places, hail caused premature fruit drops, which echoed the loss of April’s weird weather, affecting thousands of acres of land. Now farmers are worried that isolated rainfall continues with areas such as Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
