FIR with Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda’s “harm” to Christians in “Jaat”

Police said Friday that FIR was raised against actor Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and three others after complaining about the scenes in the film “Jaat” that “harm the emotions of the Christian community.”

After the complaint, the film producer apologized and said the scene had been removed from the film.

They said a complaint filed by a Christian community leader claimed the film was released on April 10 and contained scenes of disrespect for Jesus Christ and Christian religious practices.
Complaint Viklav Gold also questioned the timing of Good Friday release on Good Friday.

The filmmaker issued a statement and said: “There has been a strong objection to the specific scenes in the film. The scene has been removed from the film and is effective immediately.


“Our intention is not to hurt any religious sentiment. We deeply regret and have taken action to quickly remove scenes from the film. We sincerely apologize to everyone whose faith has been hurt.” Actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar, director Gopichand and producer Naveen were named in FIR.

“FIR is a registration under Article 299 (willful and malicious act intended to incite the religious feelings of any class by insulting their religion or religious beliefs).
