Hyderabad: Telangana Endowments Department has released a schedule for the colorful Bonalu celebrations, which will be held in the Twin Cities in June and July 2025.

The celebration will begin with the first Puja at the Sri Jagadamba Mahankali Temple on Golconda Fort on June 26, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration in the fort. Next is the second Puja and Golconda Bonalu on June 29.

The department said a large number of devotees provided bonam in the decorated mud pot, the vermilion and turmeric were the goddess Mahankali on the fort, followed by Thanksgiving, after their wishes were fulfilled. These celebrations will be organized every Thursday and July 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20 and 24.

The main Bonalu celebrations are held at the historic Sri Ugini Mahankali Temple in Sesendrabad from 13 to 14 July. Devotees from different parts of the state participate in the two-day celebration.

On the first day, devotees, especially female devotees of Pattu Sarees, offer Bonam to the goddess, and the next day the “Langum” ceremony will be held, in which a woman invokes the goddess Mahankali in herself and predicts the future. She will also answer the devotee’s questions during the ceremony.

A week later, the Bonalu celebrations will mark the conclusion of the celebrations on July 20 and 21 at the Sri Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Temple in Haribowli and Sri Simhavani Mahankali Temple in Lal Darwaza in the Old Town on July 20 and 21.

Like every year, the Donation Department consults with the regional government to decide to coordinate meetings with the departments related to the police department in the first week of June to successfully celebrate the event in June and July. Members of the various temple committees of the Twin Cities will also attend the meeting.
