Isha Ambani has been appointed under Article 2.4.1.5 of the FIVB Constitution, which allows the FIVB president to select up to four board members within the scope of different categories.
The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) announced the appointment of Isha Ambani and Louise Bawden as the administrative committee for the 2024-2028 Olympic cycle, bringing fresh perspectives, business acumen and athlete representation to the organization’s highest level.
Ambani and Bawden are both appointed under Article 2.4.1.5 of the FIVB Constitution, which allows the FIVB president to select up to four board members within different categories. This ensures a breadth of perspectives and deepens diversity and inclusion on the board, according to an IVF press release.
Isha Ambani joins the FIVB board as an appointed member representing the least sexual gender category. Ambani is a dynamic leader in the business world, part of the executive leader of Reliance Industries Limited and plays a key role in several group companies and others, including Reliance Retail. There, she pioneered the company’s broad growth, driving major digital and e-commerce initiatives.
Additionally, Ambani is responsible for the company’s diversity and inclusion programs and advocates for women’s empowerment. Her unique perspective, bringing business leadership together with a focus on inclusion and innovation, will be a valuable asset to the FIVB board.
Meanwhile, her committee members selected three-time Olympic athletes and chairman of the FIVB Athletes Committee Louise Bowden, who joined the FIVB Board of Directors. Bawden is a dual Olympic athlete in indoor and beach volleyball, serving on the Athlete Committee since 2021 and was elected for four years in 2024. Her commitment to upholding the voice of athletes, coupled with her elite sports experience, has brought valuable insights to the board.
