U.S. President Donald Trump repeated his claim on Thursday (May 15, 2025) that he “helped” the tension between India and Pakistan.

He said: “…By the way, I don’t want to say I did, but I’m sure I’ve definitely solved the increasingly hostile problem between Pakistan and India last week.”

“Suddenly, you’ll start to see another type of missile. We hope it’s solved. I hope I don’t get out of here and two days later it’s not solved, but I think it’s solved.”

This is the sixth time since Saturday (May 10) that Mr. Trump claimed the United States had a “ceasefire” between New Delhi and Islamabad.

India conducted a precise strike under Operation Sindoor on terrorist infrastructure on early May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 people.

After the Indian operation, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10. Indian troops launched a fierce counterattack on several Pakistani military facilities.

After three days of fierce military hostilities, India and Pakistan have reached an “understanding” about the cessation of “military operations” and “dismissal”, Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar announced on Saturday (May 10).

In his speech to the U.S. military on Thursday, Trump once again claimed that he talked about “trade” with the country.

“Let’s make a deal, not a war. Pakistan is very satisfied with it, India is very satisfied with it, I think they are on the way, you know, they’re fair and showing about 1,000 years of fighting,” he said with a smile.

“So I said, you know, I can fix this. Let’s install it. Let’s put them all together. How long have you been fighting? About 1000 years. Oh, I’m not sure about that. I’m not sure about getting settled. It’s a tough guy. It’s a tough guy. They’ve been fighting for a long time, but we’ve ended, we’ve ended.

On May 10 (May 10), Mr. Trump announced that India and Pakistan agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” after “a long night of talks mediated by the United States.”
