Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 6th BIMSTEC (Bangladesh Bay Multi-Section Technology and Economic Cooperation Initiative) in Thailand on Friday.
Major leaders from countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Bhutan will also attend the summit. This meeting will also become a platform for strengthening regional cooperation and cooperation.
Prior to visiting Thailand, PM Modi informed him on his social media platform X that he would participate in various programs to promote India’s cooperation with Thailand and Sri Lanka and Bimstec countries.
“I will visit Thailand and Sri Lanka to participate in various programs aimed at promoting India’s cooperation with these countries and the Bemstruck countries,” he wrote.
In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of the Forum on Economic Growth and Development in the Bay of Bengal Region.
“Over the past decade, BIMSTEC has emerged as a significant forum for promoting regional development, connectivity, and economic progress in the Bay of Bengal region. With its geographic location, India’s North Eastern region lies at the heart of BIMSTEC. I look forward to meeting the leaders of the BIMSTEC countries and engaging productively to further strengthen our collaboration with the interests of our people in mind,” he said.
PM Modi’s visit to two neighbors highlighted India’s commitment to its “neighborhood first” and “ACT East” policies, aligning with its broader vision for the Indo-Pacific region. The summit will provide leaders with a platform to discuss key initiatives to drive common growth and regional stability.
