Warangal/Karimnagar: On Friday night, severe thunderstorms and lightning ripped apart in the Jangaon and Rajanna Sircilla areas, damaging hundreds of acres of conventional crops, hurting farmers and undermining essential services.

At a rice field procurement center in Alimpur, Bachannapet Mandal (Jangaon), a lightning strike has allowed nine farmers to avoid shelter in a storm. The injured — Parupalli Nandini, Vangapalli Sushanth Reddy, Pakala Mallayya, Udem Mangamma, Bhimreddy Bharatamma, Bhimreddy Janardhan Reddy, Vangapalli Rangareddy, Dandyla Mallareddy and Ganta Padma — were rushed by 108 ambulance to Jangaon Area Hospital, where doctors confirmed they are now stable.

Regional collector Rizwan Basha Shaik inspected the Komalla procurement center in Raghunathpally Mandal on Saturday. He assured farmers that rice from each water basin would be purchased at the minimum support price (MSP) and ordered officials to update their contact registers, enhance coverage of tarp proteins and implement weatherproofing measures in all centers.

In the Rajanna Sircilla district, nearly 250 acres of rice fields in Kothapalli Village (Gambhiraopet Mandal) are placed to dry and soaked. The Mohinikunta and Maddikunta villages in Mustabad Mandal have seen extensive damage to Paddy Fields and Mango orchards. Strong winds also pushed to the shelter at the junction of METPALLY BUS-Stand, blocking traffic for hours.

Ibrahimpatnam Mandal faces a prolonged power outage when the 33/11 kV Poles collapsed between the villages of Godur and Thimmapur. In Erdandi Village, the roofs of nine cottages in the Oddera colony were torn down, destroying household supplies. Local authorities have deployed maintenance teams and are coordinating rescue efforts to restore authority, clear route barriers and support affected farmers.
