India expels Pakistani officials; leaves 24 hours a day

India fired a Pakistani official on Tuesday to work for the Pakistan High Commission and was allegedly addicted to so-called espionage. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) said the official was addicted to activities that were not in line with India’s official status and was given 24 hours to leave the country.

The operation comes as tensions intensified between the two countries following a four-day military confrontation.

India has also filed a lawsuit against Pakistan in New Delhi for D’Affaire about official activities.

Although the MEA did not disclose specific allegations against Pakistani nationals, they are reportedly related to the Punjab Police Department’s espionage.

“The Indian government has announced a Pakistani official working on the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi because they are addicted to activities that do not match his official position in India,” the MEA said.

It said: “The official was asked to leave India within 24 hours. The Pakistan High Commission received D’Affaire and was awarded this effect today.”

Punjab police said on Sunday that two women, including one, have been arrested for allegedly involved in espionage activities related to a Pakistani official released by the Delhi High Commissioner Committee.

Police Director-General Gaurav Yadav said that according to reliable intelligence, a suspect had leaked sensitive information to a Pakistan-based processor for handling procedures regarding the Indian Army movement.

The development comes days after the arrest of two Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih by rural police in Amritsar for allegedly leaking sensitive information and photos from the Army State area and photos of the air base and to the Pakistan Intelligence Agency.

Yadav said the defendants have been receiving payments through online transactions in exchange for sharing classified information.
