India exports 4.24 million tons of sugar until April this year: AISTA

Trade agency AISTA said on Monday that India’s sugar was up to April of the ongoing 2024-25 marketing year, with the highest shipment in Somalia with a maximum shipment volume of 92,758 tons. The sugar marketing year ranges from October to September. January 20, 2025, will allow India’s sugar exports for the 2024-25 marketing year. The total amount allowed for export is 1 million tons. Mills exported a total of 4,24,089 tons of sugar before April 30 of the current marketing year, according to the All India Sugar Industry Association (AISTA).
Among them, the export volume of white sugar was 3.27 billion tons, refined sugar was 77,603 tons, and raw sugar was 18,514 tons until April this year.
It said about 25,000 tons of sugar were loading.

The most cargo of total exports so far is 92,758 tons in Somalia, followed by 66,927 tons in Afghanistan, 60,357 tons in Sri Lanka and 47,100 tons in Djibouti.


“In view of the current export situation, AISTA expects the central government to export 10,00,000 sugars to be allowed to be 800,000 tons,” the statement said. AISTA requires a rise in the minimum selling price of sugar, which is consistent with the increase in sugar cane fairness and compensation prices in the 2025-26 season. It also urged the government to increase the purchase price of ethanol by 10%.
