New Delhi: India expressed deep concern about the escalating situation in Gaza on Wednesday, stressing the urgent need to release all hostages and continue humanitarian aid.

“We are concerned about the situation in Gaza. All hostages must be released,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

The remarks come after Israel resumed air strikes in Gaza on Tuesday, which made the vulnerable ceasefire arrived in January with Hamas uncertainty. According to Hamas-operated Health Ministry, more than 400 people were killed in the latest Israeli bombing.

“We also call for humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza to maintain it,” the MEA added.

Israel launches extensive strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza

The situation in the Gaza Strip was still unstable after the IDF launched a wide range of air strikes on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip earlier on Tuesday.

“According to the political echelon, the IDF and ISA are currently carrying out extensive strikes on the terrorist targets of Hamas terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip,” the IDF said.

In a series of posts on X, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said a strike was underway as Hamas continued to refuse to release the hostages and its rejection of proposals from U.S. Presidential envoy Steve Witkov and mediators. “From now on, Israel will take action against Hamas with an increasing military force,” the statement said.

The IDF provided an operational update on Wednesday, reporting that Hamas military ruins were attacked overnight in northern Gaza, where projectiles were prepared to be launched in Israel. The Israeli Navy also targeted several vessels off the coast of Gaza, which, according to the IDF, was intended to be used for terrorist activities by Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

“The IDF attacked Hamas military sites in northern Gallon, and overnight, preparations for shooting were carried out in the Israeli region. In addition, the Israeli Navy crashed into several ships along the coast of Gaza. These ships were intended for terrorist activities in Hamas and Islamic jihad,”

At least 14 people were killed overnight during Israeli strike against Gaza, according to Al Jazeera. The media further reported that the attack on Tuesday night killed more than 400 people and injured hundreds.
