India has foiled nearly 30-40 cyberattacks every day since the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22

New Delhi: India has been repelling 30-40 major cyber attacks every day since the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22. The wave of attacks begins with financial sector entities, and then spreads and continues in the critical infrastructure of the power sector.Cybersecurity has become a key aspect of Pakistan’s ongoing standoff, with continuous monitoring and countermeasures deployed at multiple levels of government and infrastructure.
According to top officials, these attacks took the form of distributed denial of service (DDOS)—overwhelming digital services with fake traffic to disrupt operations. Also attempts to undermine government websites and penetrate data sets. Although these attacks are ruthless, Indian institutions have so far succeeded in avoiding any significant losses due to enhanced firewalls and layered defense protocols.
Despite this, safety remains on high alert. Now, all government communication belongs to an enhanced security system. Since the Pahalgam attack, CERTIN (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) has released three consultations for security communications – dated April 26, May 1 and May 7.

On Saturday, the government held a key meeting with nearly 15 technology and communications stakeholders, including representatives from NASSCOM and the Indian Data Security Council, to mark potential cyber threats and drive stronger security in all critical data centers. The industry is also recommended to prepare to support government efforts to protect national cyber infrastructure.
The Ministry of Telecom has been tightening the national firewall protocol to carry out incoming data traffic. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) and its units (including CERTIN) are coordinating with Indian missions and domestic organizations abroad to enhance the defense of the network.
