India has received higher rainfall than normal in 2025, IMD said.

At a press conference, M. Ravichandran, secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences, said monsoon rainfall is expected to reach 105% of the long-term average this year.
This forecast marks a potentially fruitful agricultural season that is crucial to the livelihoods of millions of farmers across the country.
The annual monsoon season in India usually begins around June 1, in southern Kerala and lasts until mid-September. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) defines normal rainfall as a 50-year average of 87 cm (35 inches) for four months.
The Metropolitan Ministry said seasonal rainfall in most parts of the country is likely to be in much of the country, where it may be lower than normal rainfall, except for northwestern India, northeast India and some parts of the Indian peninsula.
