High-speed rail layout police booked their wife and daughter in Bangalore on April 20 to murder former Karnataka police chief Om Prakash. They have made reservations under Article 103 of Bharatiya Nyay Nyay Sanhita in 2023 for murder.
Mother and daughter duo – Pallavi and Kriti were detained. They are questioning the order of events and their role in crime. They may be arrested later that day.
Preliminary investigations show that Om Prakash is arguing with Pallavi during lunch in the HSR layout. The argument escalated and led to his murder. A handful of kitchens were used to stab him several times and his glass bottle was broken. Pallavi reportedly called her friend, the wife of another retired IPS official and claimed that “the monster was finally killed.” In turn, she reminded the police. Om Prakash’s daughter Kriti was in the house at the time of the incident, and her role was not yet confirmed.
However, both mother and daughter were booked in a FIR registered by HSR layout police, based on a complaint filed by Om Prakah’s son Karthikesh, now 38. Karthikesh lives in the same four-story building. He was not at work when the incident happened.
Karthikesh claimed in the complaint that his mother and sister both suffer from depression and quarrel with her father every day. He suspected that both sides might have killed his father.
Karthikesh also claimed in the complaint that Om Prakash had been living in the home of his sister Sarita Kumari for the past week as Pallavi had been giving him a death threat. He said on April 18, Kriti went to her aunt’s house and forced her father to return.
On the afternoon of April 20, he worked on Domlur when his neighbor told him about his father’s murder. Upon reaching the house, he saw a knife and a broken bottle on the floor. He said HS’s father was dead and the police were in the house.
Police detained Palavi on the evening of April 20 and took her to the police station of the high-speed rail layout, while Kriti was questioned by police at the Om Prakash residence where the crime occurred.
On the morning of April 21, the police took Kriti to Karthikesh’s complaint involving her mother and sister, and then took Kriti to the police station of the high-speed rail layout.
Initially, police did not suspect Kriti’s involvement and regarded Palawi as the main suspect.
Om Prakash’s autopsy was conducted at St. John’s Hospital and the body was handed over to his family.
Cremation will take place later that day at the Wilson Gardens electric crematorium.
