Officials said an hour-long launch gantry was accidentally cancelled after 24 hours at a bullet train project site near Ahmedabad, which paved the way for train movements along the adjacent affected railway line.

The accident occurred at the work site of the National High Speed ​​Railway Corporation (NHSRCL) near the Geratpur Vatva division of the Ahmedabad Division, which took place on the evening of Sunday (23 March 2025) when the company affected the adjacent railway tracks and caused the breaking of the crossing electric equipment (OHE) that affected the train movement and stood out in its statement.

After the segmented launch of Ganmen Island was lifted, the first train passed an official at the Ahmedabad branch of the Western Railway on the railway line at 5.36 a.m. on Tuesday.

There were no casualties in the incident, which took place at Vatva here at around 11 p.m. Sunday, but 38 trains were cancelled completely.

The official said seven other trains, including the Van der Bharat Express between Gandhi Nagar and Mumbai, the Shatabi Express between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, and the Ekta Nagar Ahmedabad Heritage Special Train.

“The lifting operation of the affected gantry was successfully completed (11.58 pm on Monday evening). The operation involved two 750-ton cranes, two 500-ton cranes and 130-ton cranes to remove the gantry beams,” NHSRCL, which is carrying out the Ahmedbad Bullet Train Train Project.

Improve operation

“The lifting process was carefully planned and monitored to ensure the safety of the structure and to prevent any further damage to the adjacent railway line. The lifting operation has now been completed and the railway line has been cleared for repair work,” it said.

Railway officials said the damaged tracks and OHE in the incident were restored and suitable for train movements at around 4.45 a.m. Tuesday (March 25).

He said the first commercial train departed at 5.36 a.m. and the first passenger train at 6.06 a.m.

“No passenger or rail staff were injured at the scene or near the scene. Senior officials and staff, including the general manager of the West Railway, rushed to the scene to monitor the restoration work to facilitate the transport of trains on the affected lines.”

It said passengers of the affected trains coordinated with local charitable trusts and NGOs to provide tea, snacks and water bottles at various sites.

It added that a hotline service hotline was also set up for passengers.
