The Indian Armed Forces attacked nine infrastructure targets in Pakistan on Tuesday (6 May 2025) and attacked nine infrastructure targets from the “plan and direction” against India’s nine infrastructure targets (POKs).
“Our actions have always been essentially focused, measured and non-enhanced in nature. India has not targeted the target. India has shown considerable limitations in choosing goals and implementing methods,” the government said in a statement issued around 1.45 a.m. on Wednesday (May 7, 2025).
These steps were taken in the brutal Pahargam terrorist attack on April 22, in which 25 Indians and a Nepali citizen were killed. “We promise to take responsibility for those responsible for this attack,” the government added, adding that the Operation 'Sindoor' will be detailed on Wednesday (7 May 2025).
Just minutes after the official statement, the Army's official handling of “X” on social media published an article, “Justice.”
India's military response has been widely expected, with senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterating that the perpetrators behind the attack will not be spared. These are the third punitive strikes on Pakistan's terrorist infrastructure in the past decade – in September 2016, surgical strikes by Indian troops and Uri terrorist attacks and in February 2019, Balakot, an Indian Air Force's anti-terrorist training camp, conducted a strike on the terrorist training camp after the Pulwama terrorist attacks.
Last week, during a meeting with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Defence Personnel (CDS) agent Anil Chauhan and three service directors Mr Modi, Mr Modi, “completely free” to fight the troops to determine the mode, goal and timing of India's response.
Since April 22, the Pakistan Army has mobilized troops and heavy equipment on a large scale along the border with India and has issued several “NAV AREAD” warnings and notifications to Airmen (Notam).
By contrast, although the Indian armed forces also conducted several exercises, there was no large-scale mobilization.
