India, Maldives signed 13 Moores that implemented projects with Indian grant assistance

India has signed 13 Morse with the Maldives to enhance ferry services in the island nations through a MVR 100 million grant, expand maritime connectivity and improve community livelihoods.
Under the Indian Grant Assistance Program (HIGH IMPACT Community Development Project (HICDP) Phase III), the judicially signed project signed on Sunday (18 May 2025) will be implemented. The Maldives Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marking another milestone in the ever-intensified partnership between the two countries.

Its totals 13 projects, with a total of 100 million MVR (approximately Rs 55,28,47,552), is mainly intended to enhance ferry services in Maldives, expand connectivity and improve community livelihoods.
“Build connections with community development. On May 18, India and the Maldives signed 13 Musters in the MVR 100 MN grant from HICDP III to enhance ferry services in Maldives. India is happy to work with GOM to enhance maritime connectivity and enhance the lifeline for the people of Maldives, which is the people of Maldives,” the Maldives’ High Commission published on Maldives X. The Moorish was signed by Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel on behalf of the Maldives Government and India’s High Commissioner G Balasubramanian. The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen signed on behalf of the implementation agency.
During the ceremony, Mr. Carlisle stressed that India’s aid was always meaningful, purposeful, and consistent with the needs of the Maldives’ people, reflecting the lasting bond between the two countries.
He stressed that the projects launched are not just infrastructure developments – they are the lifeline of the community, designed to meet local needs and bring lasting socio-economic benefits.

He further demonstrated that the successful implementation of these projects would pave the way for greater cooperation and common progress, emphasizing the spirit of friendship that defines the relationship between Maldives and India.
“It is delighted to launch 13 new projects under the third phase of the grant assistance for the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP). These projects go beyond infrastructure. They are the lifespan of communities, creating opportunities for opportunities, addressing local challenges and supporting lasting socio-economic progress.
Mr Ameen, speaking of the project, highlighted the rapid progress in establishing a national high-speed ferry network, which now connects 81 islands of nine atolls.
He noted that Moore, who signed with India today, will further expand these services, thereby strengthening strong bilateral relations between the two countries. Although initially scheduled for completion in 2027, the project is now expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Both ministers expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its generous support, highlighting its transformative impact on the Maldives community.

Last October, Mohamed Muizzu announced the third phase of the HICDP plan during the State Department’s visit to India.
