Foreign Minister Vikram Misri confirmed on May 10 that India agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan after reaching out. Shortly after that, U.S. President Donald Trump said India and Pakistan agreed to a “complete and immediate ceasefire” after a strike on the fourth day and a counterattack on each other’s military devices.

“The Director General of Pakistan Military Operations (DGMO) called India’s DGMO at 1530 hours (3.30 pm) this afternoon. They reached an agreement between them that both sides would stop all shooting and military operations on land at 1700 hours (5 pm) and be effective at sea, from 1700 hours (5 pm),” Misri told MISRI.

The Foreign Minister added in a brief press conference to announce the ceasefire agreement: “Both sides have given directions to implement this understanding. The Director of Military Operations will speak again on May 12. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also said both countries agreed to “start a fire immediately.”

“After the long talks the United States mediates, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to both countries on their use of common sense and great wisdom.”

The ceasefire announced concerns that the two countries’ nuclear arsenals may play a role, as Pakistan’s military said senior military and civilian agencies responsible for overseeing their nuclear weapons would encounter. But Dahl later said that such a meeting was not scheduled. Meanwhile, officials from both sides are currently willing to take a step back after the day’s exchange, and civilian deaths have caused losses to both sides on the border, reaching 66.

US Vice President JD Vance claimed a few days ago that the conflict between India and Pakistan was “unrelated”.
