India provides support to citizens detained in Qatar: Report | India News

India is expanding all possible aid to Amit Gupta, an Indian citizen in Vadodara, Gujarat, who was wrongly detained in Qatar for allegedly stealing data from an ongoing investigation, news agency reported.
His mother, Pushpa Gupta, was detained on January 1 by Gupta, a senior employee of the IT company Tech Mahindra, which was detained by the Katari authorities. His father said he was detained in Qatar’s national security custody. In Qatar, the Indian Embassy realized that the Katari authorities had detained Gupta, which was related to the ongoing investigation.
Gupta’s family insisted that he was innocent, claiming he was wrongly accused of stealing data. They demanded his emergency release and sought intervention from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Among the residents of Vadodara, those familiar with the matter said: “Our embassy continues to provide all possible help on this issue and is closely related after the case”.
The people said the embassy was in contact with Gupta’s family, representing his lawyer and the Katari authorities.
Gupta’s mother said she went to Katar and met the Indian ambassador there. She quoted the envoy as saying that so far there has been no “positive response” to the case of Gupta.
BJP MP Hemang Joshi told the media that Gupta has been working at Tech Mahindra in Qatar for the past 10 years. Josh said he was detained and detained by Katari security personnel.
“His parents went to Qatar for a month and tried to meet him, but they did not succeed.” This is the second instance since 2022, involving the detention of Qatari Indians.
Eight former Indian Navy personnel, including highly decorated officials, were detained in 2022 and then sentenced to death in 2023. Their judgment was a commuter at the Katari Court and was released in February 2024 under the order of Katari Emir.
