India-Russia Partnership in the Age of Change

2024 is a year for Russia-India relations. In December 2023, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, spent several days in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and in addition to his formal commitment, he also found time to meet with experts in Russian international relations and Indian scholars.

In July 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the annual summit in Moscow. This is the first official visit abroad since Prime Minister Modi has been re-election. This visit brought an informal beginning and a lot of continuation to everyone in Russia. The BRICS summit in Kazan was held in October, eventually reaching a year for the Russian club president, which was filled with hundreds of events on all tracks. The Kazan Declaration pointed out that the intentions of the BRICS countries are to promote many important initiatives, aiming to adopt more international orders and economic mechanisms (including BRICS investment platforms, commodity exchanges, arbitrage), to name only a few.

A major Russian-Indian Investment Forum was held in Moscow in April 2024.
Economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation, co-chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Eam S. Jaishankar. The interest in participating in this business forum is so overwhelming that organizers must close their registrations early.

This is just the 2024 Indian-Russian agenda for government activities. In addition to the official list, there are many educational adventures, academic exchanges, industry exhibitions and B2B interactions.

With economic cooperation at the center of Russia-India relations, this positive communication is very important – it helps achieve supply and demand, determine mutually beneficial cooperation formats, and find solutions to the obstacles.
This will advance this bilateral partnership in the coming years.
In the new book, lasting trust between India and Russia has been captured in a transformational era – a range of perspectives from Russia and India provide a relationship that is crucial to our two civilized nations and to the peoples who have experienced profound changes in the world.
Authors from different backgrounds share their views on what works effectively in this relationship and what has not been done yet.

The book was edited by Dr. Lydia Kulik, Senior Researcher at the Moscow Research Institute, Skolkovo, Senior Research Fellow at the Moscow School of Management, Russia’s Academy of Sciences.
