India sends 80 NDRF personnel to shock Myanmar

India has decided to deploy a 80-national disaster response force (NDRF) to carry out relief and rescue efforts amid the Myanmar earthquake strike, official sources said on Saturday. Officers of the Federal Disaster Emergency Force are using Operation Brahma to use earthquake rescue equipment to provide success to neighboring countries.

“A team of 80 NDRF personnel was sent to Myanmar. The team is expected to arrive on Saturday night,” a source said.

Myanmar and neighboring Thailand were shocked by a high-intensity earthquake on Friday, destroying buildings, bridges and other infrastructure. At least 1,002 people were reportedly killed in Myanmar.
India has deployed NDRF twice abroad during the 2015 Nepal earthquake and the 2023 Turkiye earthquake.

India sent about 15 tons of relief materials to the Myanmar city of Yangon on Saturday to take a C130J military transport aircraft from the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the devastating earthquake on Friday and said India is ready to provide all possible aid to both countries. India has a 1,643-kilometer-long border with Myanmar on the east side.
