Indian Coast Guard seizes 145kg of sea cucumber worth Rs 5.8 lakh in Tamil Nadu

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) said on Tuesday that it had seized 145 kilograms of sea cucumber worth Rs 5.8 lakh in an anti-poaching operation in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, and India was banned from harvesting and trading in Sea Cucumber, India under the Wildlife Conservation Act, 1972, 1972.

“On April 13, 2025, the Indian Coast Guard in Mandapam occupied 145 kilograms of illegal sea cucumber worth Rs 5.8 lakh in an anti-poaching operation.

The Coast Guard and Gujarat Counter-Terrorism Squad (ATS) seized 300 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 18 billion on Monday and smuggled into the Arabian Sea before fleeing the international maritime border.

According to a statement issued by the ICG on Monday, the arrested contraband, suspected to be methamphetamine, has been handed over to the ATS for further investigation.

The statement said that on the evening of April 12-13, the Coast Guard and the ATS conducted a joint operation near the Arabian Sea international maritime border in Gujarat.
