Police arrested two people linked to the seizure of large quantities of gelatin sticks on Saturday, a warehouse in Mathur Mandal, Bapatra district on Saturday. The defendant purchased explosives from Medchal Mandal of Telangana, he said, Bapatla police officer Principal Tushar Dudi said on Sunday.
SP said police had booked Dasam Hanumantha Rao, D. Veeranjaneyulu, Nagandla Prasanna, Battula Sambasiva Rao and Pratap Reddy, and Salvo Industries Private Limited, allegedly related to the case, the company provided explosives.
The defendant is illegally importing explosives and selling materials to the owner of the quarry. Tushar said their permit will expire on March 30.
“Investigation shows that the defendants sold gelatin rods and other materials for mining purposes. We are checking whether the defendants provided explosives to any offenders,” the SP said.
