New York: A 21-year-old Indian student was arrested in the United States after trying to deceive a 78-year-old woman from North Carolina by working as a law enforcement officer. Kishan Kumar Singh, who has lived in the Cincinnati area of ​​Ohio since 2024, was arrested Thursday on charges of trying to obtain property by false disguise and exploiting people with disabilities or older people.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) said in a statement that the victim contacted her representative, who reported that she was receiving calls from people claiming to be responsive to GCSO and federal agent representatives.

The caller told the victim in Stockdale, North Carolina, that her bank account was damaged and forced the withdrawal of large amounts of funds for “safety custody.” “Deputies arrested Singh when he was collecting packages as a “federal agent”, the statement said.

The caller told the woman that her name was related to crimes in another part of the country.
