Authorities say a 21-year-old Indian student went missing in the province of Ontario, Canada three days ago.

The high commissioner of India in Ottawa confirmed Van Sika’s death on Monday (April 28, 2025) at the “X” outpost in Ottawa.

It said: “We are deeply saddened to know about Ms. Wosika’s death, and the Ottawa student is Ms. Wosika’s death.”

Vanshika disappeared last Friday (April 25, 2025) after leaving her residence at Ottawa’s majestic No. 7 Maverick in Ottawa last Friday (April 25, 2025).

According to the post, her cell phone closed at about 11.40 p.m. that night, and the next day she missed an important exam, which was “totally out of place” for the students.

The High Commission said it was in a “close connection with bereavement relatives and local community associations to provide all possible assistance”.

In an earlier article on “X”, it urges people to know anything about the case and connect with local community organizations.

Parmod Chhabra, a Hindu community in Ottawa, said in a letter to Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs that the community was very worried and “worry about the worst.”

The High Commissioner also linked the letter in his “X” post.

Mr Chabra asked the Chief of Police’s personal attention and intervention and urged the Ottawa Police Department to “escalate the case, allocate appropriate resources and prioritize investigations to vanshika’s disappearance”.
