Three people died in Ramban

More than 100 people have been rescued from affected areas in terms of emergency relief and evacuation operations by the authorities.
Heavy rains caused massive landslides in parts of the region and damaged multiple buildings and vehicles. The visuals of the area show debris all over the roads and structures under dirt and rubble.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his condolences and ensured that the government was actively working to manage the crisis.
“Ramban’s tragic landslides and mountain flooding have caused considerable damage to life and property. My thoughts are caused by the affected families in this difficult time,” the Chief Minister said in a statement on social media platform X.
He added that reviews of repair, relief and maintenance plans will be conducted later in the day, with the current focus on ground rescue and safety measures. Citizens are advised to follow travel advice and avoid non-essential exercise in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, due to constant rainfall, landslides on the Chamu-Srinagar Expressway have stagnated traffic. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the highway as authorities worked to clear the debris.
