India’s building materials sector experiences recruitment boom: Report

Mumbai (PTI) April 8 (PTI) India’s building materials sector is experiencing a hiring boom driven by rapid urbanization, infrastructure development and industrial expansion, a report said.

According to a report by staffing company Ciel HR, titled “Building Materials Industry – Talent Trends and Insights”, recruitment grew by 30% in the country’s building materials sector from January 2023 to January 2025.

“With the increase in disposable income, we expect strong growth in the construction, urbanization and real estate industries. This will directly enhance the building materials industry, create new opportunities and drive long-term progress,” said Aditya Narayan Mishra, managing director and CEO of Ciel HR Services.

The building materials department in India has over 550,000 professionals.

The quantitative survey was based on insights from 105 building materials companies across the country, and job trends were based on an analysis of 2,763 job postings across various job portals.

It further reveals that demand for professional roles in materials science, sustainability and advanced manufacturing technologies continues to rise as emerging technologies such as 3D printing, AI and IoT reshaping manufacturing processes.

The company added that the company is actively seeking talent for green certification and lifecycle analysis and highlights the transition to sustainable and technology-driven operations.

The most needed roles include factory managers, production managers, supply chain managers, sales managers, environmental and sustainability experts, design engineers, R&D engineers, quality control, structural engineers, and safety engineers.

Despite a strong hiring trend, the report found that the industry differs significantly, which accounts for 12% of women in the industry’s total workforce, one of the lowest representatives in the major industries.

At the same time, the report also emphasized that in terms of geographical location, recruitment trends are mainly concentrated in subway cities.

81% of the positions are concentrated in Class I cities including Hyderabad (14%), Bengaluru (13%), Delhi/NCR (12%), Chennai (8%), Ahmedabad (7%) and Pune (7%).

The report added that as India continues to focus on smart cities, green buildings and industrial expansion, these cities are expected to remain the main recruitment destinations.
