Alappuzha collector submits Vembanad rejuvenation plan to Chief Minister

The Alapuzha Regional Government submitted a report on the protection of Vembanad Lake to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday and a report to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday.
The document includes a summary of activities organized under the Aegis of regional administrations and local autonomous bodies, as well as recommendations for lake rejuvenation submitted by the Expert Committee.
Earlier, eight subcommittees were formed in a workshop as part of the Vembanad Lake Rejuvenation Project, which brought together political and cultural leaders, environmental scientists, farmers, fishermen, and representatives of local autonomous institutions. The Subcommittee (focused on agriculture, biodiversity, health, water resources, fishing, tourism, disaster reduction and income reduction), made recommendations and project recommendations to protect lakes.
Reviewed the recommendations
“The Expert Committee reviewed the short-term and long-term recommendations made by the Subcommittee and then submitted the final report to the State Government,” Mr Varghese said.
The report includes major recommendations such as establishing the biological world, protecting aquatic and other species threatened by extinction, controlling the growth of invasive aquatic species, establishing sewage treatment plants and feces sludge treatment plants in the Kutanad area.
Organic agriculture
It also recommends the gradual promotion of organic farming, preparation of crop calendars, implementation of integrated agriculture of rice fields, fish, ducks and vegetables, adopting good agricultural practices, introducing climate-resilient agricultural methods, supplying water-based pollution to lakes through vadayar transfer projects, and avoiding moisture and moisture pathways, and supplying moisture and moisture, and causing moisture to flow in.
As part of the Vembanad Lake Rejuvenation Project, 28.72 tons of plastic waste have been collected and removed from the water with the help of volunteers in recent months.
