Manuguru inspector, large-scale television reporter bribery case

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Soma Satish Kumar, inspector of Manuguru Police Department and Mittapalli Gopi, a major television journalist, on Monday afternoon in connection with the bribery case
Gopi acted under Satish Kumar’s instructions and asked the complainant to bribe Rs 4 lakh and accepted a portion of bribe Rs 11 lakh and was caught by ACB officials in Khammam Range.
Following instructions from Satish Kumar, Gopi acted as an intermediary and played a key role in facilitating the deal between the complainant and Satish Kumar for extending an official favours specifically for not including the names of the complainant and his nephew in crime number 150/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 329 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Manuguru Police Department’s Telangana State Game Act (Amendment) Act (TSGLA) Section 5.
Chemical tests performed during the trap operation produced positive results on GOPI’s finger and on his right pants pocket. ACB officials said the complainant’s identity was detained for security reasons.
They said the inspectors and journalists were both ACB cases presented in the special court, which were later returned to judicial detention.
