Government proposes 8 acres of land for police housing in Amaravati: Housing Minister

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to require the Capital Regional Development Authority (CRDA) to allocate eight acres of land in the Taurur area of Amalawati to build police accommodation. The move is part of a broad effort by the Alliance Government to enhance infrastructure and security in the capital region.
After addressing a review meeting with police and senior officials in Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam and Nellore areas, the minister stressed that the safety of women, children and the public remains a top priority. Given the presence of the High Court, the Secretariat and the Party Office in Amaravati, she said the security arrangements would be significantly strengthened, adding that the Gontur area needed additional police personnel.
She highlighted key achievements, saying there were no reported cybercrime incidents in the Prakasam area in the past three months, while Gontul and Bapatra committed several cases. In all regions, cyber awareness campaigns are intensifying and efforts are working to sensitize every family through female police.
The Minister announced plans to modernize the police station and ensure better facilities are ensured for duty officers. She revealed that 10 new police stations will be established across the state to meet rising population and law enforcement requirements. Each area will also have a dedicated cybercrime police station.
To improve surveillance, the government aims to install 5,000-10,000 CCTV cameras per region and urge residents to support this by installing cameras in homes, shops and schools. The minister also acknowledged the revival of key policing technologies such as CCTV networks and cameras that caused them to be compromised in the last administration.
She confirmed that hiring for 6,000 police officer positions is underway and steps are being taken to resolve pending promotions and court cases, including the 1995 batch of CIS. She asserted that the government is committed to swift justice, women’s safety and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.
